PROJECT COVERAGE

The overall objective of the support project is to contribute to sustainable economic development and poverty reduction in the Dominican Republic through the digital transformation of the country, rapid economic growth, stimulating innovation, creating jobs, fostering the development of eServices and speeding up access to quality public and private services in order to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

Three-fold purposes: To assess and evaluate the level of development of digital economy with focus on the exporting sector and the potential of the digital market and its impact on growth and employment in the Dominican Republic; To develop a three-year Marketing and Commercial Strategy for the Dominican Chacabana as the best practice value addition exports of the Dominican Republic and a framework for support to digital entrepreneurship and innovation; and To develop and operationalize an online e-Commerce platform for the export ready members of the ACHADOM.

Six-fold Project outputs:

  • Digital connectivity – an analysis is carried out in terms of broadband internet access and connectivity (including technological and economic aspects) and recommendations are issued for defining a way forward;
  • An analysis of the opportunities and risks facing e-commerce for value addition products is carried out, and recommendations made as appropriate including partnerships and stakeholder;
  • A three-year Marketing and Commercial Strategy for the Dominican Chacabana as the best practice value addition exports of the Dominican Republic developed;
  • A framework for mainstreaming digital services and digitalization for the export sector and for support to digital entrepreneurship and innovation developed;
  • An online e-Commerce platform for the ACHADOM members developed and operationalized; Beneficiaries’ and stakeholders’ technical skills for the effective use of the e-commerce platform strengthened;
  • Members of ACHADOM with exporting capacity have full access to the e commerce platform.

RESULTS ACHIEVED
