PROJECT COVERAGE

The general objective of the support project was to contribute to sustainable economic development and poverty reduction in the Central African Republic through support for the implementation of a post-conflict trade policy in CAR.

Two-fold purposes: Strengthening the capacities of a critical mass of national executives in trade negotiations on the basis of the objectives of the WTO; and the EPAs; and development of a post-conflict Commercial strategy.

Two-fold Project outputs:

  • A critical mass of national experts in trade negotiations is formed and available; and
  • A post-conflict trade strategy which proposes measures to be taken in priority order and likely to revive trade and the Private Sector is developed.

Intervention areas:

  • The GATS negotiations;
  • Free movement, Right of Establishment and Trade in Services;
  • Trade negotiations;
  • Multilateralism; Regional Integrations and Economic Partnership Agreements.

 

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Purpose 1: Strengthening the capacities of a critical mass of national executives in trade negotiations on the basis of the objectives of the WTO and the EPAs:
