PROJECT COVERAGE

The objective of the project was to support the Kenya Trade Remedies Agency (KETRA) to implement trade remedy measures.

Two-fold purposes: To strengthen KETRA’s institutional capacity for managing unfair trade practices; and to conduct situational analyses of the state of unfair trade practices facing the manufacturing sector in Kenya.

Three-fold Project outputs:

  • Enable the Agency to understand the problems and challenges faced by domestic industries;
  • A pilot study on the trade remedies effects on the manufacturing sector undertaken; and
  • Strategies for future investigations and interventions established.

  • WTO agreements on trade remedies;

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Purpose 1: To strengthen KETRA’s institutional capacity for managing unfair trade practices

  • Enable the Agency to understand the problems and challenges faced by the identified sectors /products

Purpose 2: To conduct situational analyses of the state of unfair trade practices facing the manufacturing sector in Kenya

  • Pilot study on the trade remedies effects on the manufacturing sector undertaken;
  • Strategies for future investigations and interventions established
