The overall objective of the support project is to support the beneficial integration of Tuvalu into the regional and the global economy through fostering the revival of the trading capacity of the high-value coconut-based products and, thereby, contribute to sustainable economic development and poverty reduction.

Two-fold purposes: To revive the trading capacity of the high-value coconut-based products and explore opportunities for producing other value-added products from the coconuts; and to develop the sector-specific export strategy and the related implementation roadmap.

Three-fold Project outputs:

  1. Detailed Situation Analysis of the Coconut Industry in Tuvalu undertaken;
  2. Strategic recommendations for the development of the coconut sector developed and validated by the government and the private sector; and
  3. Practical Roadmap for implementation of the recommendations developed and validated by the government and the private sector.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Purpose 1: To revive the trading capacity of the high-value coconut-based products and explore opportunities for producing other value-added products from the coconuts.
