PROJECT COVERAGE

The overall objective of the support project is to contribute to sustainable economic development and poverty reduction in Uganda through the digital transformation of the country, rapid economic growth, stimulate innovation, create jobs and speed up access to quality public and private services in order to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.

 

Four-fold purposes: Organise the mission of the D4D Hub during the week of the business forum; To develop content to be presented at the Europe-Uganda Business Forum organised on 9-10 March 2020 and to facilitate the Digitalisation and Innovation session, in particular; To assess the degree of development of the digital economy in Uganda; and To propose an EU response strategy to promote digital transformation and priority areas for support.

 

Seven-fold Project outputs:  

  • Mission of the D4D Hub is well organised and facilitated;
  • A concept paper, slideshows, etc. developed;
  • The session on Digitalization and Innovation during the Business Forum Facilitated;
  • Assessment of Uganda digital economy and related environment including the policy context and institutional framework, and the regulatory framework completed;
  • An EU strategy—promoting an EU, inclusive, gender-sensitive and human centric approach to support digital transformation in the country defined;
  • A strategic approach and priority areas of intervention geared both towards public and private investments and their complementarity proposed; and
  • A list of priority programmes /actions/projects to be addressed by the EU through its cooperation instruments proposed.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Purpose 1: Organise the mission of the D4D Hub during the week of the business forum

  • Mission is well organised;
  • A list of priority programmes /actions/projects to be addressed by the EU through its cooperation instruments proposed.

Purpose 2: To develop content to be presented at the Europe-Uganda Business Forum organised on 9-10 March 2020 and to facilitate the Digitalisation and Innovation session
