PROJECT COVERAGE

The overall objective of the project is to support the beneficial integration of the Botswana economy into the regional and the global economy by expanding the country’s export basket – in particular exports of organic fertilizers -- and thereby contribute to sustainable economic development and poverty reduction.

Two-fold purposes: Efficiently and effectively apply the market intelligence for organic fertilizer exports to the EU, guidelines and recommendations in keeping with the EU import requirements; and capacity building targeting at increasing market access intra and extra regionally in support of private sector competitiveness for organic fertilizers.

Four-fold Project outputs:

  • EPA and EU import requirement compliant market intelligence for exports of organic fertilizers developed;
  • EPA and EU import requirement market intelligence for organic fertilizers promoted among Botswana’s potential exporters;
  • Sample fit-for-purpose EPA and EU import requirement compliant market intelligence guide for organic fertilizer exports developed; and
  • Technical skills and capabilities on undertaking targeted EPA and EU import requirement compliant market intelligence in support of private sector competitiveness for organic fertilizer exports strengthened.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Purpose 1:  Efficiently and effectively apply the market intelligence for organic fertilizer exports to the EU, guidelines and recommendations in keeping with the EU import requirements;

  • EPA and EU import requirement compliant market intelligence for exports of organic fertilizers developed;
  • EPA and EU import requirement market intelligence for organic fertilizers promoted among Botswana’s potential exporters;

Purpose 2: Capacity building targeting at increasing market access intra and extra regionally in support of private sector competitiveness for organic fertilizers.
